THE NON-NEGOTIABLES
The guide has final authority over departure, route, rider combinations, speed, spacing and return. A tour can be changed, shortened or cancelled when safe operation is not reasonably assured.
Driver age, passenger suitability, licence status, swimming confidence, health information and accessibility needs are discussed before confirmation.
Controls, stopping, safe distance, hand signals, group order, capsize response, marine life and no-go areas are explained before departure.
Guests receive correctly fitted personal flotation equipment and any additional equipment required by the vessel, weather or operating plan.
The guide leads from the marina, keeps the group together and changes the plan for traffic, weather, tide, visibility or guest confidence.
MOOLOOLAH RIVER & BOAT HARBOUR
The Mooloolah River downstream of McKenzies Bridge, including Mooloolaba Boat Harbour, is treated as a 6-knot area. The tour concepts therefore keep the harbour and river transit controlled and limit restricted-speed travel to no more than 30 minutes total.
Other separation distances, signage, navigation rules and directions from Maritime Safety Queensland continue to apply. Hire-and-drive operations have additional restrictions. The guide’s instruction always takes priority.
Indicative route, not for navigation. Return via the harbour; final track depends on conditions and operator approval.
60 m awarenessExtra care and reduced speed near people, structures, anchored vessels, ramps, jetties and pontoons as applicable.
Harbour entranceCross-currents, traffic and changing shoaling conditions are assessed before every coastal departure.
Open-water paceThe guide sets a pace appropriate to the operating model, group and conditions. It is not a race.
YOUR PART OF THE PLAN
Tell us honestly about experience, licence status, health, confidence and accessibility needs. It helps us plan a safer day and recommend the right experience.
No alcohol or impairing substances before or during the tour.
Keep required flotation and protective equipment correctly fastened for the full on-water period.
Do not overtake, race, weave through the group or leave the guide’s route.
Use the briefing signals and tell the guide about pain, fatigue, anxiety, visibility issues or equipment concerns.
Never chase marine animals or enter exclusion areas. Slow and give way when directed.
The advertised route is a concept, not a promise. Conditions decide the final experience.
WHAT TO BRING
LEAVE ASHORE
The website describes the intended guest experience. Final routes, ages, licence arrangements, vessel specifications, passenger limits, commercial vessel certification, insurance and land/water access permissions must be confirmed by the operator before a request becomes a paid booking. Every pre-booking is confirmed by phone for this reason.
